Myles Kennedy and the boys in Alter Bridge wrapped up their year-long Last Hero Tour in Myles hometown of Spokane, WA Saturday night December 16, 2017, and they brought along All That Remains to open the show in support of

The Future Song Foundation set up by Myles to give the youth of Spokane an opportunity to purchase musical instruments to fulfill their dreams in music and a possible career as Myles himself has done. Exactly one year ago to the date, Myles was back in town for Christmas and to also hold the first annual Future Song Benefit at The Bing with his live solo acoustic set and Peter Rivera from Rare Earth opening the show.

You could feel the excitement building in The Knitting Factory as the fans were eager to welcome Myles Kennedy home. The Alter Bridge concert in Spokane was announced in September as the final show on the Last Hero Tour and tickets to the show sold out in a matter of days. As the show got closer it seemed that there were many Spokanites scrambling to find tickets to attend this incredible opportunity and to witness this show in person. If you didn't purchase your tickets early you were either out of luck unless you happen to be one of the lucky ones to win tickets or you would pay inflated ticket prices to those who had extra tickets to the show.

All That Remains opened the show, I had seen this band a couple of times and I even had the opportunity to go sing karaoke and play a game of pinball with the master of guitar shredding Oli Herbert. I have footage of that great night but it is in my private stash of memorabilia. I, fortunately, had the opportunity again to talk with Oli after the show and he remembered me as the pinball wizard gal. All That Remains opened the show with, "Halo" and followed it up with, "Madness", "Probably", "No Knock", "Last Time", "Hold On", and to my surprise a country cover by Garth Brooks who had just been in Spokane a month prior, "The Thunder Rolls", continued with their ever so popular ballad, "What If", "Calling" and ended the set with "Two Weeks". This show was on its way to be the concert of the year for sure.

By the time it was, Alter Bridges turn to take the stage the crowd in the venue were eager to see Myles and the rest of the band perform, it had been a long time coming for this local show and Myles Kennedy's friends, family, and fans came from all over the world to see this once in a lifetime final show of the tour. I had a semi backstage seat to watch the show. I saw the guys in the band and Myles come through the backstage door I couldn't help but feel that excitement build as I watched them take the stag. Alter Bridge opened their set to, "Writing", and "Come To Life", followed by "Addicted", "Ghosts", "White Knuckles", "Cry Of Achilles", "Ties", "Crows", "Water Rising", then Myles did a solo acoustic of "Watch Over You", Mark Tremonti joined Myles for an acoustic to a song he wrote for his mother after she passed away, "In Loving Memory" a rare performance by the band, the crowd joined in singing and you could hear people in the venue thanking Myles and Alter Bridge for the opportunity to hear the song live. This song means so much to a lot of people and it especially means a lot to me as I too just lost my brother the day before Thanksgiving. The band continued with, "Isolation", "My Champion", and everybody's favorite, "Blackbird", "Metalingus", and closed the set with "Open Your Eyes". But the crowd was still wanting more, no concert is complete without an encore and the boys in Alter Bridge did not disappoint and returned to the stage I noticed Myles had changed his shirt and the shirt he was wearing the entire show looked familiar as the same one or similar to the one he wore at Rock Hard At The Park in Post Falls, ID the summer of 2016. Encore performances included "Show Me A Leader", "Words Darker", and ended the evening with "Rise Today". As the final song was nearing the end you could hear Myles say how he wanted to make it last, that it would be a while before he would perform a hometown show again. The crowd wanted the show to go on but like any good thing, all must come to an end. Balloons and streamers were tossed around the venue during the finale as Myles and the members of the band hugged and congratulated on a successful tour and interacting with the crowd for a bit before exiting the stage.

I have been to many concerts this past year and I have to admit this was one of the best and most anticipated shows of the year. Welcome home Myles Spokane is glad to have you back even if only for a little while.
