Nickelback Feed The Machine U.S. Tour With Daughtry & Shaman's Harvest

Ever have one of those stories you had a lot to say but just didn't know how you wanted to put it down on paper? Every writer experiences this once in awhile sometimes more so than not? With this story, it was one of those times? Maybe it's because of all the concerts and shows I have been documenting this summer and the mind is just going in every direction? This is what I came up with for the Nickelback, Daughtry & Shaman's Harvest show.

Nickelback's Feed The Machine Tour rolled into the Spokane Arena Tuesday night August 29th, 2017 and they brought along with them Daughtry and Shaman's Harvest. Nickelback was to perform a concert at the Gorge back in 2014 but the show was canceled and never rescheduled, now 3 years later they are back with the Feed The Machine Tour, don't wait so long next time guys it was about time.

There were sound issues during the show, I'm not sure what was up with that? Also my my recording device was not the greatest? I tried to get a press pass into the show to guarantee quality shots and videos but that did not pan out so I had to put plan B into action.

Nickelback was the first concert I ever took my son to back in 2010, Rock Star was our song, there is a little story behind the song I just like to change up the words to it. One of the highlights of the night was when Chad Kroeger pulled 2 fans from the audience to sing karaoke style to Rock Star making light of youtube saying "it's forever". This was the 3rd time I have been to a Nickelback concert and they never disappoint they always put on a great stage performance, There wasn't a bad seat in the house with the great visual effects that the band brought along with them.

Nickelback opened their set with the song the tour is named after "Feed The Machine", then not missing a beat transitioned into "Woke Up This Morning" then "Photograph". Pausing before starting into the next song Kroeger exclaims, "We made it through the first 3 songs now it's time to start drinking", as he cheered the crowd and downed a shot of Jagermeister then chugged a beer in a blue solo cup. I think there is just something about Spokane that makes these musicians want to drink? I remember something similar happening at their last show in Spokane back in 2012 and at a few other shows, I have attended with other acts here in town? It probably happens at all the concerts? Nickelback finished the show with "Gotta Be Somebody" and left the stage just to be called back for an encore performance ending the night with "Burn it to The Ground".

Daughtry co-headlined the show in case you didn't know Chris was a contestant on the hit show "American Idol" in 2006 and placed 4th, he has since gone on to be one of the most successful "American Idol" contestants along with a few others from other seasons that did not win in the finale. This was the first time I have seen Daughtry live and I was really looking forward to the show. I tried to schedule them a show stop in Spokane back in 2016 but schedules did not permit at the time. Daughtry opened their set with "Go Down" and transitioned into "Feels Like Tonight" then played one of my favorite songs "Waiting for Superman". The crowd really ate it up when Chris Daughtry sang, "Nothing Else Matters (One) by "Metallica" at the intro of the song Chris exclaimed he wish he had written it. The song was performed with just keyboards and acoustic guitar, it was amazing is there anything the multi talented Chris Daughtry can't do? He also performed a brand new song called "Backbone" dedicated to Texas due to the hurricane and his hit single "Home" as he did on American Idol then transitioned into "September". Another highlight of the show was when Chris Daughtry came out on stage to sing with Chad Kroeger, to "Nickelback's" song "Saving Me", just incredible.

I am sorry to say I did not make it in time to see Shaman's Harvest set but I have seen them live many times and they always rock. Shaman's Harvest was one of the headliners at last years Rock Hard at The Park, at that show a contest winner got to get up on stage with the band and play the cowbell during one of their songs, how cool is that? I'm proud to call them my friends.

Nickelback gets a lot of flack from the public? I see it all the time as I scroll through social media but as they say, no publicity is bad publicity they can still pack an arena, although this time it seemed attendance was down? There was a rumor only 5000 tickets sold out of an arena that can hold up to 15,000? That is just how it goes with shows it is hit and miss with Spokane concerts especially with all the summer festivals and concerts there have been in August, it is hard to see them all? Rock is not dead by any means but it is not the number one genre of music these days Rap and Hip Hop are said to be in the number one spot and Country music is a close second. We need to get more support at these shows and keep rock n roll alive. Don't forget rock is the music that paved the way for all other genres.

The lineup for this show was off the hook, regardless of the sound problems during the concert this was one heck of a lineup and one amazing killer concert. I will always support Nickelback in spite of all the haters out there and for Daughtry, I knew he was something special the first time I heard him sing on American Idol I thought for sure he was going to be the winner that season, he should have been? Shaman's Harvest is such a great group of talented musicians I really like their rendition of Micheal Jackson's, "Dirty Diana". The show rocked If you missed it all I can say is, you should have been there you couldn't have asked for anything more.
