Adelitas Way (Alive)
Adelitas Way arrived in Spokane and started out the day with a Grub N Grope acoustic set for the winners of the Rock 94.5 contest put on at the KXLY Studios in downtown Spokane. A question asked during the acoustic set was, how did Adelitas Way get their name? Rick Dejesus told the short version of the story I thought to be very interesting. He said, "he was in Los Angeles with a friend for a meeting and they decided to go to the beach since they were early, he climbed into the back of the truck and fell asleep and when he woke up he was in Tijuana Mexico, in the process of getting arrested and being robbed by the police there. His friend was robbed of $500 but they couldn't find any money on Rick because he had $25 hidden in the bottom of his shoe. The Mexican Police didn't like that he didn't have any "deniro" and wanted to fight with Rick and kept hitting him in the back of the legs with a billy club". After such a warm welcome from the Tijuana Police they decided to drive for a little while without any money they ended up at a bar called Adelitas (meaning kind or noble). The pair met a girl there who was a prostitute that Rick connected with telling stories of each others lives, then and there Rick decided he had it easy and was determined to go back to Las Vegas and work hard to make it with his music career. Another question was, "What do you do on your off time"? Rick's answer, "I'm a father and hang out with my kids, parenthood is probably the favorite chapter in my life right now, I was a rock star in my 20's I got to see the madness of it now I get to be a dad". Adelitas Way played all their hits like, "Dog On A Leash", "Sick", "Bad Reputation", "Alive", and a few new songs from their up coming album. Their song "Alive" has special meaning to me and it is just a great song. Adelitas Way has their 5th new album, "Notorious" scheduled for release June 9th, 2017 be sure to check it out.

Adelitas Way: In this clip fans are throwing gifts to the band in the form of joints (mind you Marijuana is legal in the state of Washington) Check out Rick Dejesus's reaction to the fans generosity, it is quite comical, such a cool guy. When he turns and says, "earmuffs, you got that "Men In Black" stick erased from your memory", is directed to a couple of young fans attending the concert, how cool is that a guy that truly cares.
Letters From The Fire
Letters From The Fire, out of San Francisco, CA co-headlined this show, I had caught an acoustic show with them last summer with "Art Of Dying" for the first time and they were awesome but there's just something about the energy with a full force Rock N Roll show this band really delivers with a great stage performance and Alexa Kabazie's powerful vocals they are a must see. The band was formed in 2012 and members include Alexa Kabazie - Vocals / Mike Keller - Guitar / Cameron Stucky - Guitar / Clayton Wages - Bass / Brian Sumwalt - Drums, check them out coming to a city near you soon.

Also performing on this bill from Tempe, AZ "The Black Moods" this was the first time I had ever seen this band I was blown away with their alternative rock style. Also formed in 2012 with the release of their debut album in April of that year. Band members include Josh Kennedy - Lead Guitar/Vocals Johannes Lar - Bass, Chico - Drums/Percussion. I had a chance to meet the members after the show, very down to earth group of guys.
The Black Moods
Manafest, also performing on this tour from Pickering Ontario, Canada with their hip hop rock style of music with lead vocals, Chris Greenwood. I noticed this band had a little glimpse of rap to their set and me being a rock girl I have to say I really enjoyed their performance. I really like most genre's of music but I usually steer more towards rock or metal but my son is getting me more and more into hip hop and the more mellower rap if you get what I mean.
Manafest
Opening the show was Spokane's own, "Alive In Barcelona" members include Matt Hoos - Vocals, Jesse Barton - Strings/Vocals, Chase Williams - Drums, Cameron Douthat - Strings, Craig Taylor - Strings. This band really rocks and I am proud to be a part of my hometown's rock scene. Check out their new single, "Back To Life" out now.
