Little Red Corvette: A Tribute To One of The Most Brilliant Artist's That Ever Lived (PRINCE) 1

Since the first time I saw Prince hit the scene in the late 70's I was an instant fan, he was so talented not to mention he had this sex appeal that just drew you to him. The first song I remember hearing was

"Little Red Corvette", it has always been one of my favorites and of course the great, Purple Rain album and movie. Some of his more elusive and risky releases he rarely performed live after he became a Jehovah's Witness in 2001.

I never met this brilliant artist or even had the privilege of attending one of his unforgettable concerts but it sure was on my bucket list of must see performances that I now will never have the opportunity to mark off my list. This great artist got me through many hardships. His music spoke to me and his talent was of something out of this world. Before Prince's passing I had this great idea, the reason I had never seen him perform live was because he never made a stop in Spokane while on tour? As a promoter I was destined to change that and was going through the process of trying to get Prince to town for one great show. Then tragedy struck, the world lost a great artist, and all around phenomenal person in general. I have been sitting here for the last 2 weeks trying to put into words a tribute deserving of this man? Trying to find the right words and content has been unnerving, he was such a great icon with a bit of mystery, mere words don't do this talented artist justice.

When I had heard that Prince's Plane made an emergency landing after his last show in Atlanta a week earlier, I remember thinking, I hope it isn't serious? then went about my business. A week later I log on to my social media page and the first thing I see is a post from a friend praising Prince's talent and musicianship, I still had no idea he had passed until I got to the end of the post. I remember thinking," say it isn't so". I was hoping it was a hoax, there are so many out there running around on the internet. I started investigating the net to verify the rumor, sadly the information was true I was in disbelief.

It is down right upsetting all the speculations and rumors regarding this phenomenal performers sudden death. As far as anyone knew he was a healthy 57 year old who had just had a party 2 days earlier at his residence in Paisley Park? I find it hard to believe the rumor that his death was due to drugs? After all these years of hearing of Prince's relatively clean living, why has there been no mention of drug use until his passing? From reports Prince was an avid Jehovah's Witness, now I'm not up on their beliefs, but I'm pretty sure drug use is not allowed?

This past week Kiss bassist, Gene Simmons, open his mouth on his opinion, probably a publicity stunt?(no publicity is bad publicity), "stating how pathetic it is that Prince killed himself". We ALL have issues and weaknesses that we battle and in the end those shortcomings are always revealed. You just can't hide the truth, It always has a way of revealing itself. What we don't need is a judgmental, "holier than thou" attitude about our peers, neighbors, brothers and sisters.

Gene has since apologized for his thoughtless remarks stating, "I just got such shit from my family for my big mouth again'. "I have a long history of getting very angry at what drugs do to the families/friends of the addicts". In truth I can see his point since I experienced addiction with friends and loved ones, but I get angry when people make speculations on something that has not even been confirmed yet.

Don't get me wrong I still like Gene and the Kiss Army, I grew up listening to their music, my first ever concert was a Kiss concert and I plan on supporting their tour this summer. It's just that we all need to sit tight and wait for the results of the autopsy to come back then we can all stop speculating because we will have confirmation.

Here is the skinny on my view about the opiates all the reports are talking about caused this great icons death, mind you now it still has not been determined of the cause of death yet. I still don't believe his passing was totally or at all due to taking pain killers but if it turns out they played a part in his death this is my opinion on the subject.

If Prince's death turns out to be associated to pain killers it is a dependency on the drugs like a diabetic and their dependency on their medication. I myself told my doctor I never wanted to be addicted to any medications ever. That's what I call it when you have to take a drug for the rest of your life or you could have serious problems including death. My doctor looked at me like I was crazy, but if you are dependent on a drug it is like being addicted.

I never took drugs or pills and experimented very little with marijuana, I just knew I wouldn't do well. Now with my heart condition I feel I am addicted to my medication, I guess a better word would be dependent on it. That would be the same for someone with chronic pain when your doctor prescribes pain medication and you become dependent on them. Chronic pain is a very hard thing to live with 24 hours a day every day and you will almost do anything to rid yourself of the pain . But when the pain gets excruciating sometimes you just need it to stop and that is where people get desperate, chronic pain is a terrible condition to live with day in and day out. We are all just trying to get through this thing called life, Prince knew that early on.

.

I'm not sure if the passing of Prince has really set in with people? I know for myself I am still having a hard time believing it but the fact is, it is true and like it or not there is nothing anyone can do to change that. Prince's music helped me through some dark times in my life and I am grateful for the mark he made on the world. I really was hoping to to be a part of getting Prince scheduled to do a concert in my area but now I will never have the chance to finish what I started. I will just have to accept I will have to X through this must see concert, off my bucket list. Thank you Prince, for all the beautiful music you gave to all of us, the music will live on forever. The pain is over, now you can rest in peace, the world won't be quite the same without you <3 Until next time keep it real and do your part to make our world a better one.**Peace**js.
