STEEL PANTHER, FAIL SAFE PROJECT, FREE THE JESTER: With Special Guest, "Myles Kennedy" @

STEEL PANTHER FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY PERFOMING, "HIGHWAY TO HELL" AC/DC COVER

Steel Panther performed in Spokane, WA for the first time Friday night March 4, 2016 to a sold out crowd. This highly anticipated performance had the whole city scrambling to find last minute tickets to the show. I was contacted many times, and asked if I knew of any tickets available for the show. The concert was scheduled to start around 9 pm at The Knitting Factory in downtown Spokane. It seemed strange to me this show was starting this late? Most shows start by at least 7 pm if not earlier. My only guess is that this show was an 18 plus concert and since Steel Panther has some risky content when on stage, may have been a factor for the later start time.

Steel Panther

We were all packed into the venue like sardines, fans were ready to rock n roll. While waiting to get into the venue we saw fans dressing the part to match Steel Panther's look, I stole a few shots of a group of guys that at first glance you would have swore it was the actual guys in the band, they dressed the part perfectly. People were drinking and looking for adventure. There seemed to be many fights in the venue this night. A big fight broke out upstairs in the balcony where I was sitting with a couple friends. There were so many people and the 2 guys fighting were crashing into anyone and everyone we ended up with a shower of beer and drinks all over us, I almost got my camera knocked out of my hand as I was recording the concert but managed to catch it before it went crashing to the floor down below. The fight was so crazy we thought we would get shoved over the rail but finally security came to the rescue and apprehended the trouble makers.

If you are not familiar with Steel Panther here is a little background about the band. Steel Panther is an American comedy-glam metal band from Los Angeles, California, mostly known for their profane and humorous lyrics, as well as their exaggerated on-stage personae of "glam metal" lifestyle in the 1980s. The members include, vocalist Ralph Saenz ("Michael Starr"), drummer Darren Leader ("Stix Zadinia"), bassist Travis Haley ("Lexxi Foxx"), and guitarist Russ Parrish ("Satchel"). In April 2008 the band decided to change their name from Metal Skool to Steel Panther and the rest is history.

Steel Panther did a meet n greet earlier in the day at "Locals Canna House", a local Cannabis dealer in Spokane. They were doing selfies with the fans and giving away their CD to the first 50 through the door. After the meet n greet they headed downtown to the venue to get ready for the show. Steel Panther took the stage close to 11 pm talking all their corny dialogue and singing some of there well known songs such as "Fat Girl", "Asian Hooker", "Up All Night", "She Blows", "Seventeen Girls in a Row", "Pretty Baby", "Ten Strikes", "Turn Out The Lights", "Do You Wanna Be Like Tiger Woods", "I'm Going To Party Like it's The End of The World", and an encore performance to, " Community Property" to name a few. Also during the song "Seventeen Girls in a Row", they invited woman from the audience to join them on stage to dance along to the song and a few flashed the crowd. Also another highlight of the show was when, "Satchel" did an amazing double guitar and drum solo while flying solo on the stage, I had never seen anything quite like it before, this was absolute proof regardless how outrageous these guys can be, there is also some real talent.

DURING THE SONG "SEVENTEEN GIRLS IN A ROW"

During Steel Panther's performance I had a few friends get offended by the act and dialog on stage and left the show early missing one of the highlights of the show. I even heard people comparing them to a rap show and thought "Steel Panther" had worse language and content. If you have never been to a Steel Panther show or listened to any of the bands videos or albums? I suggest doing your homework before you go to the show, especially if you are the type to get offended easily. It takes a good sense of humor and just laughing off what is going on, it's all in fun and isn't this the reason everyone comes to see them in the first place? Believe me when I say this show was tame in comparison to some others I have witnessed.

About midway through Steel Panther's performance they had another trick up their sleeve. Spokane's own Myles Kennedy was invited on stage. This was a big surprise and treat for the fans at the show. No one had any idea Myles was in town let alone making a surprise guest appearance. Myles also plays in the band Slash & The Conspirators. Steel Panther, and Myles Kennedy rocked the house to AC/DC cover "Highway To Hell" it was like getting 2 concerts in one, what an epic night

Co headlining the show was Spokane locals, "The Fail Safe Project'. They formed in fall of 2010 with an all original song set list. The band managed to beat out hundreds of other bands in the "Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands" to secure a spot on the Rockstar Uproar Festival at the Spokane Arena in 2011.Doing over 400 shows in 3 years and independently funded Fall 2013 West Coast tour that included shows in Hawaii supporting Everclear & Rival Sons. The members consist of Jimmy Nuge-Vocals, Lenny Fuson-Bass, and Joel Hiatt-Drums.

Free The Jester opened the show with their Pop/Punkrock style music also Spokane locals. Members include, Cameron "CAMO" Moore(Lead Vocals, Guitar), Willie Woo Styx (Bass, Vocals), Matt Johnston (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Zach Vaudreuil (Drums). You can catch them playing clubs and venues all around town.

In closing this was Steel Panther's first appearance in Spokane, the show was sold out and 2 great local bands, "The Fail Safe Project", and "Free The Jester" opened the show. "Steel Panther" talks up a great show and the crowd loves it. There was a guest appearance from Spokane's own "Myles Kennedy" which was an added bonus to the show. The crowd was rowdy and ready to party, some dressed like "Steel Panther" themselves. This was an epic night, I hope you all got to experience it, as I did. If you happened to procrastinate in getting your ticket and missed out on the show you can check out all the pictures and videos from the show on my blog page. Until next time, keep it real and hang loose. Support live music and your local music venues. Rock N Roll **Peace.**js**
