GA's To Broke To Rock #31 Featuring: Trivium, Invasive, Vial 8

GA's To Broke To Rock #31 took place at The Knitting Factory Spokane, Saturday night February 6, 2016. The 2B2R shows are a free concert put on by our local radio station Rock 94.5 for all the Mash Pit All Stars in our city and close surrounding area. The line up of rocking performers included, Moscow, ID natives Vial 8, Spokane locals and fan favorites Invasive and heavy medal rockers Trivium from Orlando, FL. The show was sold out even though it was a free concert. The Knitting Factory was full of excited fans ready to have a great time crowd surfing and moshing in the pit all while rocking out to these 3 incredible bands. The long anticipation of this show has finally arrived.
Vial 8 opened the show, band members include: Jeff Mack (guitar, lead vocals), Chris Chalmers (Lead Guitar, vocals), Roger Crozier, (Bass), & Mike Paz (Drums). Vial 8 won 1st place at Rock 94.5 G.A’s battle of the bands in 2012 which landed them an opening slot at the Uproar festival 2012 in Post Falls, ID with national acts such as, Shinedown, Godsmack, Adelitas Way, Stained, P.O.D. just to name a few. They have been a local favorite ever since. They opened the show with their original hit," Sweet Misery", and "Get What You Deserve" from their 2013 Cross The Line CD. With Chris Chalmers electrifying guitar riffs to, Jeff Mack's impressive vocals, and Rogers bass rhythms, let's not forget Mike Paz was solidly pounding the skins and providing the back beat. If you have never heard Vial 8 they should definitely be put on your list of must see bands, then you can officially say you have been Vial8ed!
Spokane's own, "Invasive" co-headlined the show with their opening performance a cover by "Accept" sure managed to get the crowd moving. Invasive members consist of, Gary Cook (Lead Vocals), Antonio Ortiz (rhythm/lead guitar), Austin Hagel (rhythm/lead guitar), Randy Beach (Bass), and Robert Tannich on the skins. Invasive has had a some what rough year with 2 members leaving the band they had to take a break from the scene earlier this last year while they looked for replacements...They found that in the 2 new additions, Antonio Ortiz, and Austin Hagel, now they are back bigger than ever this year opening shows for national acts such as Hells Belles, Bobaflex, Orgy, and now Trivium not to mention past shows, and what is still left to come this year.
Now what you have all been waiting for, the headliner Trivium and their, "Silence In The Snow Tour" took the stage with their Metal/Thrash/Rock style music. Members include - Matt Heafy - Guitar, Lead Vocals - Corey Beaulieu - Guitar, Vocals - Paolo Gregoletto - Bass, Vocals - Paul Wandtke - Drums. This was the second time I had the pleasure of seeing Trivium perform in 4 months, as they were touring with Tremonti back in October. The crowd at this show was insane. By the time Trivium narrowed down the show, Spokane was in the running to be the best crowd of their tour. We were ranked right up there with shows from LA and Canada. Trivium played tunes from their new CD, "Silence In The Snow", as well as fan favorites with an encore performance of, "World Goes Cold". During this performance an over zealous fan jumps up on stage to be near his idols but was abruptly accosted by security and pulled from the stage, as Trivium continued to rock the house.
With this show contending with another national act, "Black Sabbath" performing in Seattle the same night, by the looks of a packed house in The Knitting Factory, you would never have known. Get your tickets early for the next To Broke To Rock in April with" Adelitas Way" to assure your way into the show because 2B2R #31 sold out and everyone was looking for tickets right before the show. The shows are free but you have to have your stubs to get in. Trivium was an incredible show, met some new friends and met up with some old ones too. Music soothes the soul, until next time. ROCK ON!
